The discretionary Regional Committee Chair Award celebrates a local authority whose sustained ambition has delivered a place-led approach to investment, unlocking millions of square feet of office development and supporting significant job creation across the city region.

Salford City Council has consistently demonstrated the impact of long-term vision backed by delivery – from its pivotal role in the delivery of MediaCityUK, helping to establish Greater Manchester as an internationally recognised hub for media, business and innovation, to the transformation of the Irwell corridor through New Bailey.

More recently, ambitious developments such as ECF's Eden (a previous BCO Award-winner!) have set a new benchmark for sustainable, net zero carbon workplaces, reinforcing the city’s position as a forward-thinking destination for investment and growth.

At our ceremony last week, Alex presented Stephanie Mullenger, Director of Property for Salford City Council with this special award.

He said: “Together, these developments represent millions of square feet of commercial space, significant employment growth, and a clear message that Salford is prepared to invest boldly in the future of work, even through periods of market uncertainty.

“This award is therefore presented not just for what has been built, but for the confidence, consistency and belief behind it.”

On the night, Stephanie said: “We have always believed in Salford’s potential to lead and innovate, and it’s been a privilege to contribute to projects that create jobs, foster sustainable growth, and attract global attention. What excites me most is that our story is still unfolding, with new opportunities emerging and a spirit of resilience and confidence guiding us forward.

“I want to thank the BCO and the Regional Committee for this award, which recognises not just physical development, but the belief and determination that have driven progress. And most importantly, thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey – your dedication and passion have made the difference.”
