Industrial economy

Salford is home to around 2,000 businesses in the industrial economy, with specialised and growing sectors in logistics, wholesale and manufacturing. The city has seen a 19% increase in industrial businesses locating here since 2019, significantly higher than the Greater Manchester average of 2%.

Leading industrial locations in the city include Northbank Industrial Estate and Agecroft Enterprise Park, which benefit from being at the heart of Greater Manchester, with close links to the Liverpool city region to the west of Salford.

Industrial businesses have benefitted from links with the University of Salford and their specialist innovation assets to test emerging technologies.

Looking forward, as part of the Greater Manchester Western Gateway, there is room for further development in advanced manufacturing, logistics, green industries and clean growth.
